Обзор (к сожалению, мы не смогли это перевести):
Blazing a trail out of the Forest of Dean and taking no
prisoners in their wake, Englands finest post-rave pop
terrorists certainly stuck two fingers in the face of any critics who expecter them to be one-hit wonders after the mega-success of their debut single “Unbelievable”.
Well yeah, it was certainly one of the best, if not the best, singles of the year and a pretty damn hard act to follow, but the E.M.F. had never set out to be a pretty vacant pop group
and soon went about balancing the scales.
Trying to convince the fickle hard-core crowd that they had
more to offer than a catchy pop tune proved to be a real test for the band. They chose to go off the deep end by playing as a surprise, unannounced support act to Carter the Unstopable
Sex Machine in front of a rabid, sold out crowd in central
London.
Phew, a gig in Vietnam would have proved a safer bet as the place errupted in ignorance and hate as the band took to the
stage. As soon as the crowd realised that it was “that poxy teenybop group” the missiles flew thick and fast. Bottles, cans, spit and lager rained down as the band tore through their set at breakneck speed, but far from end up running scare E.M.F.
fed off the barrage of hate and gained some kind of sick respect from the hooligan element of the crowd. From then on
they had been welcomed into the hard-core ranks with open
arms and scenes of stage diving red-necks soon became the
norm.
One last thing I hear you cry. Just what does E.M.F. stand for? Well depending on the day and circumstances, most bets evening it could be Extremely Massive Foreskins... and some of the on the road tales seem to point in that direction!
Anyway, what’s in a name? It’s the music that counts, so turn it up muthafucker!
